MSYSA has worked with Coach FX Live to provide FREE access to hundreds of session plans for 4U-18U players. MSYSA believes that having access to these materials will help coaches feel better prepared and more equipped to deliver a quality training session with the anticipated result being that more players will have a more positive and enjoyable experience which will keep them participating longer and will increase the likelihood of them giving back to the sport and their communities as adults.
You are receiving this e-mail because you have registered as an adult with MSYSA for the 2016/17 seasonal year and therefore you have access to the sessions plans. Session plans are able to be viewed, downloaded and shared for FREE and all activities can be watched as a video!
If you have not done so already, please click here and follow the instructions to set up/access your free account.
It is the policy of LPYSA to not have our rec teams demoralize their opponents by running up the game score. Our soccer club is FOR THE KIDS and winning by more than 5 goals hardly keeps the losing team interested in playing this fine sport. We should be teaching our players to win with honor and to do so without being hurtful to the losing teams or its players. They should respect their opponent and the game. Coaches are asked to control the outcome of each match through a variety of possible methods, for example:
- Swap out offense for defense
- Allow only 2 players beyond center field
- Require 3 consecutive passes before a shot on goal
- Shots on goal only allowed with non-dominant foot
LPYSA asks that all coaches teach good sportsmanship to their players - it is one aspect of the game they will carry with them through all aspects of life.
The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association promotes continual coaching education. See the attached link for a diagram of courses, which begins with the "F" course. The “F” license is a 2-hour course, conducted entirely online, intended for all parents and coaches of youth players. The focus of this grassroots course is to share U.S. Soccer’s best practices in creating a fun, activity-centered and age-appropriate environment for 5-8 year old players.
